Hello there ... Secondhand smoke affects pets, like humans and sometimes worse.

Here are two articles that discuss the dangers of secondhand smoke on pets.
University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine:

Secondhand smoke, also known as environmental smoke, snuff, or ETS, is clearly associated with cancer, respiratory diseases and cardiovascular-associated diseases in humans. Several studies show that up to 20 different carcinogens contained in tobacco smoke can be detected by non-smoking crowd can be inhaled.

Said Dr. Timothy Fan, veterinary oncologist at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Urbana, that although the association between ETS and diseases in animals has been studied much, only a few studies show an association between smoking and certain forms of cancer in animals.

A study at Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine found a strong correlation between hypertension and cancers of the oral cavity, squamous cell carcinoma, in cats. Cats living with smokers have a higher incidence of suchcan not increase in nasal tumors in short-and medium-nosed dogs exposed to ETS.

Dr. Fan explains that dogs can have a long nose, a higher incidence of sexually transmitted diseases induced tumors for two reasons. "Smokers breathe through their mouths, and deposited in the lungs. Beholder, however, the ETS has been breathed normally through the nose." Long nose nose dogs have a larger surface area on which carcinogens May will be deposited before reaching the lungs.

"Furthermore," Dr. Fan "as a nose, the nose bigger, with larger numbers of cells, there is a greater likelihood that these cells can be transformed by carcinogens into a cancer cell.

Colorado State also notes that in the short to medium-nosed dogs ETS who are exposed to a higher incidence of nasal tumors than those not exposed, have a slightly higher incidence of lung cancer, probably because their passages are shorter passages less effective at filtering carcinogens inhaled air before it reaches the lungs.

Unlikee man who develop bladder cancer May after ETS exposure, dogs and cats are not at increased risk of bladder cancer when exposed.

As the human-animal bond is stronger, we share more of our lives, our leisure and our living with our pets, and face similar threats to the environment than we do. Many of our habits such as smoking, can affect our pets, they would respond to any other member of our family.

Designate a smoking area outside or in a room may be physically separated from the house to smoke a means of minimizing exposure to ETS, pets and other family members.

For more information on secondhand smoke snuff and your pet, consult your veterinarian.

No thanks, I prefer to roll in catnip. Smoking is bad for your health. As in doped catnip or valerian is safe and fun. I even have a special box from my office with a window out and entry. It is good to know that I recognize from time to time.

It is reasonable to think that if people would have cancer, it would probably carcinogenic for dogs. Therefore, animal experiments have worked, because we like organic products.
